We've wanted to get out to the San Juan islands for as long as we've been married and have just never gotten out there. At first we were going to try to stay at Friday Harbor, but after doing some more looking decided on a better deal in Anaco
We were also close enough to Burlington to catch up with my best man Jason and his family (10 month old twins!). We just really took it slow. We stopped at Leavenworth on the way over for coffee, sausage, & saurerkrout. We spent a lot of time in used bookstores. I
picked up a text book n 1890'son penmanship, and wow is it intense. Nat picked out some fiction from a couple author's she's never read before. While in Friday Harbor, we picked out a water color painting by a local artist to take home and frame, something for a reminder. It was a really refreshing time, definitely worth doing again. Next time maybe Adia will get to go on her first ferry ride, that'd be a kick.Coming home is always fun too. I don't think you can beat the experience of seeing so many different environments during one 5 hour drive. By the time we get near Selah, we always start feeling at home, and hot. The view of Mt. Adams from the sage brush and desert near the firing range is always impressive.
